Configure appraisals

Create and manage the following appraisal settings:

  • Appraisal Status: Statuses used to define appraisals, such as active or pending.

  • Appraisers: Names of property appraisers.

  • Mass Appraisal Years: Mass appraisal years and related details, including Status, Effective Tax Year, Effective Date, CAP/ATI Exclusion Date, and DOR Approval Date.

  • Sketch Area Types: Types of sketch areas.

  • Valuations: Settings for available valuations, such as Basic Cost Agricultural, Basic Cost Commercial, and Basic Cost Residential.

Prerequisites

  • View Settings permission is required to view the Appraisers panel.

  • Edit Appraisal Settings permission is required to add, edit, or delete appraisal settings.

Manage appraisal statuses

Create and manage statuses to be applied to appraisals.

Create appraisal statuses

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Appraisal Status panel, select Edit.
  1. Select Add Row.

  2. Populate the fields.
  • Name: Enter a name for the appraisal status.
  • Type: Select a type, either Pending, Active, or Inactive.
  1. Select Save.

The appraisal status is added.

Edit or delete appraisal statuses

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Appraisal Status panel, select Edit.

  • Edit an appraisal status: Adjust the Name as desired.

    Note: Once an appraisal status has been created, its Type cannot be edited.
  • Delete an appraisal status: Select the Delete icon.

  1. Select Save.

The adjusted information displays in the Appraisal Status panel.

Manage appraisers

Add and manage appraisers.

Create appraisers

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Appraisers panel, select Edit.
  1. Select Add Row.

  2. Enter the appraiser's Name.
  1. Select Save.

The appraiser is added.

Edit or delete appraisers

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Appraisers panel, select Edit.

  • Edit an appraiser: Adjust the Name as desired.

  • Delete an appraiser: Select the Delete icon.

  1. Select Save.

The adjusted information displays in the Appraisers panel.

Manage mass appraisal years

Add and manage mass appraisal years and details.

Create mass appraisal years

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Mass Appraisal Years panel, select Add.
  1. Populate the fields.

  • Mass Appraisal Year: Enter the mass appraisal year.

    Note: There can only be one Pending Status mass appraisal year in the system at a time. If a Pending mass appraisal year is created, and one already exists, a warning message displays to alert the user the record cannot be saved.
  • Effective Tax Year (optional): Enter the effective tax year.

  1. Select Create Mass Appraisal Year.

The mass appraisal year details are added.

Note: When a new mass appraisal year is created, the system checks if a Cost Data Set exists for the same year; if one does not exist, it is created using the last cost data set year as the template.

Edit or delete mass appraisal years

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Mass Appraisal Years panel, find the appropriate year and select Edit.

  • Edit a mass appraisal year: Adjust the information as desired.

    Notes: The Status is Pending until reassessments are implemented. When implemented, the label changes to Implemented.
    The Implemented Date is null until reassessments are implemented. When implemented, the date will display here.
  • Delete a mass appraisal year: Select the Delete icon

    Note: If a mass appraisal year is deleted, any cost data set with the same year remains.
  1. Select Save.

The adjusted information displays in the Mass Appraisal Years panel.

Manage sketch area categories

Create and manage sketch area categories.

Create sketch area categories

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Sketch Area Categories panel, select Edit.
  1. Select Add Row.

  2. Populate the fields.

  • Code: Enter a code for the sketch area category.

  • Name: Enter a name.

  • Description (optional): Enter a description.

  • Area Properties:

    • Fill Color: Select a fill color for the area (inside the lines).

    • Fill: Select a pattern for the area.

    • Calculation Adjustment Factor: Enter a calculation adjustment factor and select Positive or Negative.

    • Calculation Type: Select a defined calculation type.

  • Line Properties:

    • Color: Select a line color.

    • Height: Enter line height.

    • Width: Enter line width.

    • Line Style: Select a style.

  1. Select Create Sketch Area Category.

The sketch area category is added.

Edit or delete sketch area categories

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Sketch Area Categoties panel, select Edit.

  • Edit a sketch area category: Adjust the information as desired.

  • Delete a sketch area category: Select the Delete icon.

  1. Select Save.

The adjusted information displays in the Sketch Area Categories panel.

  1. From the left-side navigation, select Settings > Appraisals.

  2. On the Sketch Area Types panel, select Edit.
  1. Select Add Row.

  2. Populate the fields.

  • Code: Enter a code for the sketch area type.

  • Name: Enter a name.

    For example, you might enter the code GA for a sketch area type named Garage.

  • Description (optional): Enter a description.

  • Sketch Area Category: Select a category to place the type under.

  • Area Properties:

    • Fill Color: Select a fill color for the area (inside the lines).

    • Fill: Select a pattern for the area.

    • Calculation Adjustment Factor: Enter a calculation adjustment factor and select Positive or Negative.

    • Calculation Type: Select a defined calculation type.

  • Line Properties:

    • Color: Select a line color.

    • Height: Enter line height.

    • Width: Enter line width.

    • Line Style: Select a style.

  1. Select Create Sketch Area Type.

The sketch area type is added.

  • Edit a sketch area type: Adjust the information as desired.

  • Delete a sketch area type: Select the Delete icon.

Manage valuation settings

You can create, edit, and delete valuation settings by selecting the valuation hyperlinks in the Valuations panel. The following valuations are currently available for configuration:
